Wildebeest
The Wildebeest (Connochaetes taurinus), also called Gnu, is one of the two species of antelope in its genus, and its a close relative of cattle and goats. They are one of the most abundant species grazing in the east African continent, and are known to perform annual migrations to new grazing grounds. They are one of the main preys of large African cats and spotted hyenas. The individual in the photo was found calmly grazing near our safari jeep inside the Kruger National Park, South Africa.
O Gnu (Connochaetes taurinus) é uma das duas espécies de antílopes do seu gênero, e é um parente próximo dos bovinos e caprinos. Eles são uma das espécies mais abundantes do continente Africano, e são conhecidos por realizarem usas lendárias migrações anuais em busca de novas áreas de pastagem. Eles são uma das principais presas dos grandes felinos Africanos e também de Hienas malhadas. O indivíduo da foto foi encontrado pastando calmamente perto do nosso jipe dentro do Parque Nacional Kruger, na África do Sul.
