Mutualism?
Mutualism can be defined as an interaction between individuals of different species (here, tortoises and hippopotamus) that results in positive effects on per capita reproduction and/or survival of the interacting populations. Not sure if the interaction in this photo can be considered mutualism, but is always good to see different species interacting with each other. Here, the tortoises (cold blooded animals) need sun heat and the hippo (due to sensitive skin) needs protection from the sun ... so perfect! From a far sight, the hippo looks like a simple stone in the lake. When looking closer, we can see this interesting interaction happening. This photo was taken in the famous Kruger National Park, South Africa.
O mutualismo pode ser definido como uma interação entre indivíduos de diferentes espécies (aqui, tartarugas e hipopótamos) que resulta em efeitos positivos na reprodução e/ou sobrevivência das populações em interação. Não tenho certeza se a interação nesta foto pode ser considerada mutualismo, mas é sempre bom ver diferentes espécies interagindo umas com as outras. Aqui, as tartarugas (animais de sangue frio) precisam do calor do sol e o hipopótamo (devido à sua pele sensível) precisa de proteção contra o sol ... tão perfeito! De longe, o hipopótamo parece uma simples pedra no lago. Ao olhar mais de perto, podemos ver essa interação interessante acontecendo. Esta foto foi tirada no famoso Parque Nacional Kruger, na África do Sul.
