Los Tuneles, Galapagos Islands II
I confess! I have hundreds of pictures from my trip to Galapagos Islands. This place is so unique that almost every single landscape, plant or animal, only exists there! Los Tuneles, as this area is called, is one of these places and has been formed by the volcanic activity that created the islands, and formed a series of lava flows, arcs, and tunnels both above and below the surface of the water. There is no proper soil above these rocks that can retain fresh water. The vegetation growing there is adapted to a life with light, hydric and nutrient stress. Still, this place has a singular garden formed with dozens of cactuses, succulents and other plants. A unique spot in the island well worth a visit!
Eu confesso! Tenho centenas de fotos da minha viagem às Ilhas Galápagos. Este lugar é tão único que quase todas as paisagens, plantas ou animais, só existem lá! Los Tuneles, como esta área é chamada, é um destes lugares e foi formado pela atividade vulcânica que criou todas as ilhas, e formou uma série de fluxos de lava, arcos e túneis tanto acima como abaixo da superfície da água. Não há solo acima dessas rochas que possa reter água doce. A vegetação que cresce ali é adaptada a uma vida com stress por luz, água e nutrientes. Ainda assim, este lugar tem uma vegetação singular formada por dezenas de cactos, suculentas e outras plantas. Um lugar único na ilha que merece ser visitado!
