Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon
The Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon is one of the wonders of nature in Iceland and is found very close to the highway 1 in the south of the island just by the sea. What many people doesn't know is that this lagoon was formed very recently as a result of climate change. Its surface is at sea level and sea water flows into the lagoon at high tides. Blocks of ice of different sizes are constantly breaking off the glacier forming thousands of icebergs that concentrate on the outlet of the lagoon. The lagoon is not very wide, but its depths reach 250 meters, what it makes it the deepest lake in Iceland. Beautiful place isn't it?
A Lagoa da geleira de Jökulsárlón é uma das principais atrações da Islândia e encontra-se perto da rodovia 1 no sul da ilha, à beira-mar. O que muita gente não sabe é que essa lagoa foi formada muito recentemente como resultado das mudanças climáticas. Sua superfície fica ao nível do mar e a água do mar flui para a lagoa durante a maré alta. Blocos de gelo de diferentes tamanhos estão constantemente se soltando da geleira, formando milhares de icebergs que se concentram principalmente na saída da lagoa. A lagoa não é muito larga, mas sua profundidade chega a 250 metros, o que a torna o lago mais profundo da Islândia. Vai dizer que esse lugar não é um lindo!
