Gullfoss, Iceland
Gullfoss ("the Golden Falls") is one of the most popular, and beautiful, waterfalls in Iceland. It's located in the Southwest part of the island in the river Hvítá, around 120 km from the capital Reykjavík. This waterfall is now a nature researve and is protected by the Icelandic State, but believe it or not it was once speculation about using Gullfoss to generate electricity. Gullfoss appears often in popular culture and can be seen in the cover of one album of the British band Echo and the Bunnymen, and in the music video called "Heaven" by the American Band Live, for example. It's a must-see-attraction when visiting Iceland whether in summer or in winter. This photo was taken during my travels to this fantastic country called Iceland!
Gullfoss ("Cascatas douradas") é uma das mais populares e incríveis quedas de água da Islândia. Ela está localizada na parte sudoeste da ilha, no rio Hvítá, a cerca de 120 km da capital Reykjavík. Esta cascata é agora uma reserva natureza e é protegida pelo Estado islandês, mas acredite ou não, já foi especulado sobre o uso de Gullfoss para construção de uma hidroelétrica. Gullfoss aparece frequentemente na cultura popular e pode ser vista por exemplo na capa de um álbum da banda britânica Echo and the Bunnymen, e no vídeo musical chamado "Heaven" pela banda americana Live.
